Hello K-9 Supporters,
It’s been quite a while since I last sent out an “ask”, but it’s long past due.
Did you know that your donations go towards a lot more than the purchase of search and gun canines for the Los Angeles Police Metro K-9 Platoon? Past gifts include heavy duty car batteries to make sure the air conditioning can always stay on when the dogs are waiting in the car – especially important during heat waves like the ones we are experiencing now. Also, infra red cameras that reveal bad guys in dark spaces, bite suits, megaphones, enhanced helmets and training area upgrades (upgrades not provided by the department).
There is a constant turnover of the K-9s, due to injuries, wear and tear and old age. Currently the average cost for a search K-9 is $13,500.
